    • It was late and I got duped. That was Peggy Lee’s original version hidden behind Ella. With some research it appears that most likely Ella never recorded Fever. I’ve replaced with an excellent duetthat I didn’t find last night but did thanks to your keen ear. I’m glad you appreciated the Elvis version, I’m generally not a fan but he nails it.

  1. Always had a soft spot for Miss Lee’s singing this being, of course, one of her ;trademark’ songs. But I do wish she hadn’t taken it here at such a ripping pace..

  2. The slower Peggy Lee version was the one I first heard. I’ve always loved it. Then I discovered the original version of it by Little Willie John. That became my favorite. It’s sexy rather than sultry and doesn’t have the Romeo and Juliet or the Pocahontas lyrics. Elvis’ version is terrific too. I may be beaten for saying this, but, Madonna shouldn’t be allowed around ANY song that requires a voice (I actually couldn’t get past the music intro to that one) !
