This is Halloween

Continuing Fearsome’s Halloween traditions, he has asked me to post the intro to one of his favorite flicks, Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas

Tim Burton – This is Halloween – 1993

Earlier this month we discovered Broken Peach and find their cover of this very tune quite fabulous.

Broken Peach – This Is Halloween – 2015

We wish you a Happy Halloween!

The stuff of nightmares

Maybe it’s the travel, maybe it’s the stressful times, maybe it’s the virus, maybe it’s the Halloween season or maybe it’s the I don’t know what … but the dreams are vivid. Night before last it was a nightmare.

A nightmare brings to mind one of my favorite tunes from a favorite band. Seasonally appropriate I think.

Metallica – Enter Sandman – 1991

I Put A Spell On You

and now your mine!

We kick off Halloween Week with Broken Peach’s cover of Jay Hawkin’s 1956 holiday classic most recently made famous by Bette Midler in the 1993 film Hocus Pocus.

Broken Peach – I Put A Spell On You – 2017

This has been a favorite tune of Fearsome’s for years. He relates to it on a level I cannot fully explain in this short post. Somehow we missed this re-release of it in this here acoustic form. It’s simple, beautiful and stunning. It gave us chills.

Ministry – (Every Day Is) Halloween – Acoustic – 10/31/2019

It’s time to Shine

Upon meeting Danny, Hallorann quickly realizes that Danny shines. Hallorann then warns Danny of what he may experience at the overlook hotel and encourages Danny to keep in mind that the spirits are just that, spirits, that cannot themselves hurt Danny.

This piece on the hotel that inspired Stephen King begs one to ask, does Stephen King shine too?
