It’s a beautiful winter solstice evening here in San Diego California. We’ve just returned from a 4.7 mile walk as the sun set over the Pacific ocean to our west for its final time before our earth begins its tilt northward marking the beginning of winter. Today was a stunningly beautiful 75 degree F day here with crystal blue skies, warm but with a refreshing nip in the air. Simply the optimum Southern California winters’s day, kind of a cordial welcome to longer days that are on the horizon as we march toward spring.
Moments after arriving home we found this a cappella recording of Veni Veni Emmanuel. It’s simple yet refreshingly stunning. We found it an appropriate to welcome winter.

Happy Winter Solstice…
May peace be with you.
Always a favorite since I was but a wee fellow. The simplicity of this short and beautiful performance allows one to appreciate the depth of the complex layers this classic exudes.

Sometimes simple beauty is all that is needed to calm the soul.

Enjoy the little things, for that is where we find the beauty of life.
We here at Fearsome Beard try to stay focused on the positive, the beautiful and the uplifting.
Although not uplifting, we felt that the post previous to this one today was necessary to point out the obvious. We feel that the obvious needs to be pointed out because for some reason there seems to be a blind spot in society that we think can be changed, but only can be changed by pointing it out. Please join us do your part and point it out as often as necessary to hopefully resolve that blind spot.
Thank you for hearing us out and supporting our right to speak up.
Now for something beautiful.
After a stellar spring and amazing early summer, just when the hundreds of Oriental hybrid lilies planted in our front yard are about done with their annual show, this one started opening about 4 days ago and today was in full glory.
The scent is heavenly and can be enjoyed from standing all the way out in the street. The stalk is a full six feet tall and yes it’s that big that Fearsome is almost small in comparison. The blooms are each a good 10-12 inches across.
One of Fearsome’s very first post was with one of our lilies back on June 2, 2014 and can be seen HERE.
We here at Fearsome Beard have had the honor to watch Anna Buffini grow from a pretty little girl into the amazingly talented and beautiful woman she is today. We were in attendance at the Mastermind conference where she performed her version of Rise Up.
She inspires us.

What is a good reason to repost something we’ve posted before? Because we think it’s beautiful. Right now we here at Fearsome Beard need some beauty in our world to remind us that there is more beauty & love than there is ugliness & hate.
Stunningly beautiful we might add.
Heart & Jason Bonham – Stairway to Heaven – Live at the Kennedy Center – December 2, 2012 – Kennedy Center Honors – Led Zeppelin
Music is a healing source for me. This particular tune has always been a beautiful comfort in a sometimes confusing world.
The Moody Blues – Tuesday Afternoon – 1967 – Days of Future Past
As I prepared for bed last evening, Fearsome insisted on some YouTube time. We stumbled upon this beautiful piece. Being originally from Appalachia we found it both original yet nostalgic. Therefore today we share.
