NOTE: Unfortunately the copyright holder who owns the rights, and hasn’t bothered to share, had it taken down. It was a beautiful tribute in honor of all the victims of the L.A. fires. Seems a shame that a copyright holder would be so selfish as to not share something so meaningful and healing to the victims, but here we are.

This brought tears to my eyes as I watched it live on the Grammys last Sunday.
It still moves me today.

I was a young buck back in 1994 who lost many friends and lovers to AIDS. Pedro became a hero for me then and he still is today. He’s one of the many talented bright spots we lost before there was a drug cocktail that made a long life possible for HIV positive persons.
This is not short video, but a video that was worth every minute of my time. So much so I’m about to watch it again. I find its message vitally important given today’s political climate. Thus I share it here in hopes that not only will you watch it, but also share it with others too.
Oh, and have a tissue handy as I needed one a couple times while watching.

I want to pause and wish everyone here a Happy New Year!

The year ahead will definitely bring a challenge or three, or even more. I pause to remind myself that no matter how challenged I may become in a situation, there is always something I can do. What can I do? I can choose how I react, how I perceive, how I move forward, how may overcome, how I can grow and what I can learn.

I can also choose to look for beauty in my surroundings and beauty in the people I interact with. I can choose to share good, to focus on positive and to not dwell on things that do not help me nor those around me. I can let fear pass though me, feel it then recognize it for what it is and let go of it. I can do my best to understand, to love, to share and to give.

These are the things I wish to strive for in my New year.

Oh and to dance, I wish to dance. Will you join me?

Felíz Navidad

Living just some 12 miles from the San Diego / Tijuana border, as we have for the past 30+ years, Mariachis are part of our culture. I adore living so close to Mexico. I love the people, the beauty and the culture. On a clear day we can see the mountains across the border and the Los Coronado Islands out off the Mexican coast, as well as the shimmering lights of Tijuana at night from our house.
Old Town San Diego, which was at one time the seat of the governor of this part of Mexico before this area became part of the United States, is a short half mile walk down the hill from our home. Old Town is one of the most visited state parks in California and is filled with Mexican food, culture and of corse Mariachis.
Therefore Fearsome has asked me to post this video to wish you a Merry Christmas filled with the rich culture of where we live and what we love.

Fearsome and I adore both the original BBC version of Ghosts as well as the American CBS version.
One of our favorite moments from both series is this one from BBC’s second season Christmas special. We find it very appropriate to welcome Winter Soltice 2024.

Originally released on November 23, 1973, I do remember this song playing over my little transistor radio as well as on the AM radio in my mother’s 1967 Buick Electra 225. I loved it because it was fast, fun and about Christmas.  Fast forward to this 2024 Christmas season and Elton himself has re-released it in this (somewhat) updated video. Enjoy!

The reopening of Notre Dame was a big deal for us as Paris is one of our favorite places, and Notre Dame one of our favorite places in Paris. Today we will pause from the classic holiday music to enjoy this beautiful piece performed for the celebration marking the restoration of this magnificent structure.
