I remember the release of this song. As a child it was magical. It was released the same year of man’s first landing on the moon. To this kid it was all wonderful, mystical and right around the corner. I clung to the lyrics since at the time the news showed the Vietnam war and protests. I was hopeful.
Today I still am hopeful that the magic of these lyrics will still manifest in my lifetime. For I believe there is still beauty and good in our world, thus I will choose to focus on that. May peace, love, joy, understanding and acceptance prevail on earth.

Whenever I (still) hear the song the most memorable thing for me is how my mum always used to ask what’s the meaning of the moon being in the ‘seventh house’. Even then, being in my early 20s, I already did know what it referred to, but when it came to explaining it to my mum my silent attitude was “Oh, what’s the use!” so I never bothered. 🙂

When I was 9 or 10, thanks to our then teacher suggesting that some of us might want to explore the subject of AstroNOMy, I immediately became a totally passionate follower of that subject. Even up to today, seven decades later, though not quite as ‘passionate’, I have retained an acutely keen interest, following any and all news on that science.
Then, I think in my late teenage/early twenties years I flirted a bit with AstroLOGy, but it’s always been an uneasy pairing – for the obvious reason of total, logical incompatibility. It didn’t last long. However, I did have my birth chart drawn up – by TWO different ‘national professionals’ (both expensive!). They came out pretty similar, though their predictions about the shape of my then future life were to be quite widely off the mark.
Astrology’s been little more than an entertaining curiosity ever since but for me Astronomy remains my ‘biggie’. (Btw: I also find Tarot quite….erm…’interesting’).
I’m studying Tarot for the first time in my life. I’m rather enjoying it. I follow Ellie Dreams Down Under on YouTube. She wrote a book last year, Tarot Well Done by Elena Olympia Collins, and I’m now doing bi weekly online classes with her. She’s wonderful. She reads the Rider Waite deck as a language and is quite insightful.
My natal chart was done by an astrologer back in the mid 1980s, it’s been fairly accurate so far
If you remember when this song was first released, you are old enough to remember the dark days of of Nixon, and know that the country has faced big challenges, and prevailed, and we will again.
My post today talks about Independence Day at Edith and Dicks house on the lake, that is where I would have first heard this, Edith was a free spirit, and the former Rockette living next door had teenage sons who were allowed to play rock nice loud.
