Jimmy Sommerville has a very special place in the soundtrack that is my life. His “Smalltown Boy” has an even more special place in that soundtrack. So when he releases a version that I haven’t experienced before I post it here. Thus this in an “Always Post”.
This performance, that he posted to YouTube this morning, was from a British show in 2015. Beautiful, yet haunting.

Fearsome Beard 
I’d not seen this video before. Actually not seen him for, probably, all the years between then and now, and he looks, or rather looked, as good here as he ever did.
When he first came on the scene in the ’80s as a militantly proud gay man, my work colleagues would taunt me about his looks (“Mr Potato Head” – he never claimed to own appealing looks anyway). As I was, then, the most prominent ‘out’ member of staff (and the sole such officer of senior grade) it seemed they wanted to ‘BLAME’ ME for his features! Would heteros of either sex have blamed themselves for any hetero non-good-lookers? I think not. I didn’t let it get under my skin, though just by saying this now it likely sounds that I did! Heigh-ho!
I’ve always so enjoyed his music. I always actually liked the little Dimple in his chin.
I should look up a recent photo of Mr. Somervile and see how he turned out.
