Brenda Lee originally recorded this tune when she was only 13 in 1958. That initial release in 1958 did not sell well and so it was re-released in 1959 and flopped again. However in 1960 when Decca records tried again it took off, eventually selling more than 5 million copies.
In November of this year she has re-released it with this new video. She is a firecracker!

Oh by the way, that saxophone is being played by none other than Boots Randolf himself.
This used to be a ‘staple’ Xmas music fayre for many years, reaching our #6 in 1962. Had no idea she’d been so young when it was first recorded. Not sure if her present video is her singing now or lip-synching to her young self, as I suspect – though if it really is the former can hardly tell any difference.
Our own Kim Wilde covered the song in 1987, taking it to #3, but she was 17, so older by a fair bit.
She is lip synching the original which never had an “Official Video” until now. I think she is a joy.
When I’m 78, I hope to be lip-synching to my 13 year old self too, LOL! Fun video — I especially like it when she adjusts her wig. I’ve always liked this modern carol, so upbeat and cheery. Good for you, Brenda Lee!
She just radiates joy, fun and love.
Thank you so much for this…
great way to start my week,
and Brenda still ROCKS! 🤗🎄
Yes she does!
One of the first 45s I ever owned and I played it until I wore it out. Still my favorite version of this song.
I’m thrilled she made that Video
