  1. I well recall this ‘smiley’ record coming out.( I ought to as I’d have been 20 at the time). Although it had already been a Number One smash in U.S.A. it was quite surprising that it only reached #12 here, their follow-ups ‘She’d Rather Be With Me’ and ‘Elinor’ faring rather better – #4 and #7 respectively. This one is among those chart hits that identifies an era, arriving just on the coat-tails of ‘Flower Power’.

  2. I love this song! The video tickled me. It’s so funny how what were groovy, with it, hip bands now look so totally nerdy and geekyfied. I was eleven in ’67, but I don’t remember being that young at the time. Thank you Fearsome! I’m going to pull out my ’60s hits dvds and bop to house cleaning.

  3. That… is the first 45 record I ever bought. My Dad took me downtown to the H.L. Green department store and bought it with money from my own allowance.
