We all hope that the message in the lyrics is well-founded as regards our current prolonged troubled times globally. Though that’s a big hope even the occasional shaft of sunlight will be well received.
This track has been more re-appraised in recent times than any other on the ‘Abbey Road’ album, and deservedly so. It’s unpretentious and it’s not cynical, easily one of George’s life’s best.
