Quality contemplations

Kindness

the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

synonyms: kindliness, kindheartedness, warmheartedness, affection, warmth, gentleness, concern, care, consideration, helpfulness, thoughtfulness, unselfishness, selflessness, altruism, compassion, sympathy, understanding, big-heartedness, benevolence, benignity, friendliness, hospitality, neighborliness, generosity, magnanimity, charitableness

Tonight I’m contemplating quality of kindness.  I think I’m kind, but have the desire to look deeper. To understand better I need to start with the definition and I love the synonyms. I can look at the synonyms and see which of those come easily to me and which ones I need to develope. It’s a challenge to me on the path towards a better self. A challenge to keep improving.

In order to see my blind spots I should look at these antonyms as well:

Animosity, hatred, ill will, hostility, indecency, indifference, intolerance, meanness, mercilessness, selfishness, thoughtlessness, barbarousness, cruelty, harshness

Am I harboring any of these antonyms? Toward anyone or myself? What synonym can I practice or refine to improve?

  1. Dear brother, the fact that you dare to search both heart and soul openly is expectation for this noble, higher achievement. In my world at this moment all around are people who have left off the daily heart and mind check, opting instead to foist their importance over all else for quite some time. A few of them are in the sights of my stern correction as they continue to act like marauders while their actions. cause great harm…often leaving me to come alongside to lend aid, guidance and comfort to the afflicted . Though little has been right in my world for some time now I have a balance of faith and determination that somehow keeps me going, what strength to endure is not mine solely except for the ability to find paths and foster just and enduring outcomes. Some are on this earth as obstacles immovable, without regard, incapable of human decency; they are not our challenge. Those who remain pliable and conscious are a part of the human family who need and deserve our careful and dutiful consideration for applying all measures to grow love, mercy, and hospitality.

  2. Carl Jung sez it is not a question of do you have a Shadow; it is where is the Shadow right now. You are one of the kindest souls i know. I strive to be kind – while always looking for my shadow unkind elements.
