Acceptance
From Wikipedia:
Often in my past the term acceptance had an air of giving up about it. I would keep pushing against situations that didn’t really matter because I was not willing to accept. This would create unrest, drama, stress and negativity. I wasted energy on things I could not change. I would fret, loose sleep and try to draw others into it thus making others as miserable as myself.
Thankfully over recent years I have learned that acceptance is not giving up. It is not weakness but strength. This extends to people, places, things or situations. I have found often it is not these that need changing but my reaction thoughts or presumptions about them. If I can change perceptions or reactions I then can accept. If I can accept I am more at peace. If I am at peace I can see opportunities. If I can see these opportunities I can go with the flow and things are better. I can work with, understand, forgive and accept instead of working against.
This takes strength, patience and understanding. I am learning I don’t have to take things “on”. I can accept and take things “with”. I can take responsibility for me, for my part. By doing so things do change, they change in a positive instead of negative manner. Even if it’s only my perception, and a change in perception is a change and most often for the better.
I am not saying to roll over and just let the world step all over me, I am not advocating being a doormat. I am saying that I find if I go inside of me, find strength and accept. I not only find a more peaceful and positive way of perception and reaction, I find positive change. I find new opportunities for better experiences. I grow. I make better decisions. I do better things.
It’s a choice. I can sit on the couch, stew about little crap and be miserable. Or I can do the work. The work inside of me that make for a better, easier, happier more fulfilling experience.

Celebrity Wisdom
I used to love to once in a great while, not often, watch the show Dirty Jobs. When I happened on it by accident I would stop and watch for a segment or two if I had time. I liked Mike Rowe. He was a handsome man, had a good sense of humor and a good outlook.
I never really thought of him as enlightened. It was a show and could have it’s entertaining moments. I did not watch it regularly. I wouldn’t call myself a fan of his. He had a show and he made it enjoyable to watch on occasion. He had a job, he did it well. I respected that.
A couple days ago my better half sent me a link to a CNN article. It is by Mike Rowe. It’s about work, relationships and choice in life. It is a wonderful article. I highly recommend clicking over for the read. It’s not long, it’s well written and entertaining. It has a wonderful message. A message that I find both true and inspiring.
I find the read better that the video, both are here and both a very good…so why not watch and read…I couldn’t express it better so here it is:

Ann Inspiration
WOW
JMG posted this today and I recently posted Ann and Nancy singing Led Zeppelin.
Ann and Nancy Wilson, Heart, still have it. Here they appear on Lettermen with Foo Fighters. This is too good to not repost and preserve on my blog thingy. The inspiration of talent that continues after so many years helps me today to reach a little more. It gives me reassurance that talent does not have to deteriorate but can endure and grow.
Enjoy!
It’s life …
Life.
Its such an adventure.
The pleasure of life, daily everyday life.
This very moment I stop to be in gratitude for all that I have.
I breathe deep, I smile, I feel warmth, I feel love and thank all that there is for this.
Just this, a busy joyous life.
I am content.
May your day be blessed.

Becoming part of a big family
Nina is settling in quite well. She is healthy. The vet said she does not appear to have been abused, just neglected. She appeared in overall good health. She had vaccine updates and some general tests. She us scheduled for a very badly needed teeth cleaning October 29. She is staying by my side all she can and is interacting well with the crew. She has a favorite bed in the corner that was Gilda’s spot but Gilda seems fine with it and is on another bed that she favored as her second spot. She has had no accidents in the house, has yet to have barked once and seems happier and more secure daily. At first she was a bit apprehensive having been alone for so long it’s like she was waiting to be abandoned again.
So here goes, the family of two men and five dogs appears to now officially be two men and six dogs. We are blessed with the space, the financial ability and more love than we could have ever imagined. Are we crazy? No, just full of love.
As I mentioned about the outpouring of support that all of you have given us … thank you! …if you wish to help the rescue organization that was willing to take Nina in you can help out here :

Nina would love you for it. She found a home here so she will not need any donations, but there are many others who do.
Thank you all for your love and concern. Nina will make regular appearances here so you can keep up with her.

Nina’s progress
Nina is doing well. All the Fearsome dogs are adjusting to her presence and she to them. Last night we stayed home and had the nieces and nephew over for a home cooked meal. She was inside, like she used to be, at home with a family. She was quite well behaved. She slept inside for the fist time in over a year and I came down this morning to no accidents and a happy girl. All the others sleep in my room, she stayed in the family room and appears to have had a good night.
She has her vet appointment today at 3:15. She will get the works and I will schedule her for a badly needed teeth cleaning. From the information that the one family member had for me, she has not been to a vet in four years although she had her rabies shot from the county shelter this year so he could renew her tags. She is still registered to go into the rescue group but will spend the week here adjusting before it’s decided if she will go up for adoption or if she’s just going to become a permanent member of the family. If we find a quiet stable home instead of the “up for adoption” thing that would be perfect. We wait, we see, she’s happy and we are all getting to know each other as she adjusts.
I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of support from you in blog land. It has been suggested that there be a donation line for her…. Stay tuned and I will later post information about donations to the rescue group that she is in … Whether she goes up for full adoption or ends up making her home here with me, the group can use any and all help. No Wagging Tails Left Behind is very active in the area placing dogs in screened permanent homes that may otherwise become casualties of an overburdened shelter system. The group is also very active in Baja Rescue and Baja Sanctuary that rescues and cares for homeless and abused pets in the Tijuana/Baja area of Mexico just south of the border. The shelter situation south of our Mexico border would be non existent without the Baja Sanctuary which is solely run by donations from the U.S. And by volunteers from San Diego.

Safe at home
Nina has moved in. She is staying with my brood of 5 so make that 6 with her. Everyone is getting along fine. My dog sitters place is very small and she has 3 already so the better half decided it’s better she foster here as our place is fairly large. She will go to the vet tomorrow afternoon. Who knows if she proves herself as easy as she seems to be maybe she might just stay. I will keep you posted on that as 6 is not something I really desire. So for right now it’s foster.

Good dog needs a new home
As a realtor I run into these situations rarely but they do happen and I was made aware of this today. I went to meet her and she is as sweet as they come and very very well behaved. She took treats one at a time, sat on command and rolled over. Here is her story…
Nina was adopted by an older couple from the dog pound about 10 years ago. Unfortunately her owners both passed away. She used to live in the house with them but after they passed she was put outside in the yard alone. A neighbor has been feeding her and takes her to the dog park once in awhile. She gets along with other dogs well and behaves great off leash. She comes when called. She has been alone in the back yard of the empty house for months. The house has sold and she has nowhere to go. She will end up at the pound in a few days if I am not able to help her find a new home.
Anyone want a sweet sweet older girl who has lost her owners? She will love you dearly…..
UPDATE:
My dog sitter has offered to foster her, but can’t keep her long term. I just got back from bathing her, applying flea medication and taking her for a walk . She is very well behaved on leash and just stood still for a bath in the back of the house where she is living as I gave it to her with a garden hose. My dog sitter has 3 dogs in a small apartment, I have five dogs so together we will foster her until we can get her a permanent home. So talk to your friends if you are reading this near San Diego as she will be a great companion …. And she will love you for the help.
UPDATE 2:
Nina has been accepted into a rescue group, No Wagging Tails Left Behind. My dog sitter will foster her until she is placed. I will sponsor her and foot her bills until she is placed. Being that she is over 10 she would not do well in the shelter setting as older dogs of her age are harder to adopt out, but rescues have a different type of potential owners who are usually willing to take on dogs with needs or who will only be around for a few years. She remains in her yard and will move tomorrow to my dog sitters home 3 doors down from me. I went to visit her today and she is feeling so much better after the soothing oatmeal bath I gave her and her flea meds have taken affect. She has a bed that we took her last night as she had nothing but concrete and dirt that she has slept on for almost a year….behind an empty house.
